Are you tired of stupid governments trying to institute laws which regulate your internet use?
Are you sick of feeling like your voice is not being heard?
Have you tried some form of protest (in whatever country you might live), only to be beaten, tear gassed, or otherwise told to "shut up!"
Are you, like so many of us world-wide, disgusted with the unequal distribution of wealth? Sick of being part of the 99%?
Well, I have the cure...
Last month, we all saw just what kind of power we actually have... we shut down SOPA/PIPA
Millions of people world-wide decided we didn't want this stupid law, and we said so, in a very clear, very loud voice... and we can do the same to protest everything else we feel is wrong with the world.
This being leap year, we have one extra day this month, February 29, and I propose that we all Un-Occupy the Internet on that day.
What do I mean by this? My proposal is simple, and requires absolutely no effort on your part, in fact, it requires even less effort than you normally put into your common online activities. For that is simply what I suggest...
On February 29, don't use the web! Don't purchase ANYTHING online, don't do any banking, don't send emails... simply take a one day break from all your normal online activities.
You may say to yourself "What good will that do?" and truly, if only a few people do it, it will accomplish nothing at all... on the other hand, if we all do it, or some significant number does, it will send a very clear message to the entire world that we are very unhappy, and we want things to change.
You may be thinking that this all seems to apply only to citizens of the USA, and I admit, being such an unfortunate person, I am a little biased about (or is that against?) my own country, and know what sort of havoc would arise if everyone simply stopped using the internet for even one day... but, I am fairly sure we all have things we would like to protest, and in most cases, they all boil down to much the same thing, or at least, they mostly stem from the same sources.
Governments and the huge Corporations that control those governments have had their way in this world for far too long, and it is time that we, as ordinary citizens, show our true might.
And do not believe we are powerless, the recent defeat of SOPA/PIPA shows just how much, and what kind, of power we really have.
So I say, let us USE our power. Let us send a message to the corporate big-wigs who would like to take control, not only of the internet, but of the entire world.
February 29, 2012... let it be the day... the day that we, the nobody's, the regular folks, the people who actually DO all the work, and who actually PAY for it all, finally stand up (or perhaps it would be better to say "sit down") and send the message. We want change. We want more equal distribution of wealth, we want fairness, we want PEACE, and we don't want to be cogs in the global corporate machine!
Post this everywhere, tell everyone... February 29, leap day, no internet... show them our POWER.
Its just one day people... and it costs NOTHING! And it will send the most powerful message of change that has EVER been sent!
