A New Group for Fractalists

Ok, I know many of my watchers probably feel the same as i do about joining more fractal groups... you already belong to four, five even ten fractal groups and you are swamped with messages and deviations from those groups, so you aren't really looking to join any more right now...

I can understand that all too well. I've turned down a number of invites recently, and felt bad doing so, but we all know how precious time can be, we don't want to spend more time dealing with messages than we do making fractals!

But this time it's a bit different. This group isn't just about posting a bunch of fractals so more folks see your work, this has a serious purpose.

got the idea from one of the Literature groups which did a similar thing to try to help get literature more recognition from the dA staff as a valid art form. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm being too hard on our (likely already over-worked dA admins) but to me and many others, it often seems as if fractals are not really taken seriously here on dA... (how many times has someone said "it's not art, it's just button pushing"?)

So, we need to get dA and the world at large to understand that fractals ARE art, that we take time, use energy and thought and emotion to create just like any other artist. I think that in some ways, the outside world is finally beginning to see fractals in a better light, but we have a long way to go.

So the goal of this group, is, in part to feature outstanding fractals in a way similar to the "Daily Deviation" feature of dA (as most of us are aware, fractal art is currently without a Community Volunteer, and we've been getting next to no fractal DD's since Santania left as CV... so the group will be posting a certain number of group selected "daily deviations" as a stop gap measure during this CV hiatus... but hopefully the group will go on after we get a new CV to continue working to bring fractals the recognition they so rightly deserve.

On that note, I would like to ask that you, if you are a fractal artist, consider joining, watching and if at all possible,helping and supporting this new group. It would be especially great if the "giants" of the fractal art community would agree to join (you know who you are, but I'm not going to name any names as I always end up forgetting someone and I don't want to hurt any feelings)

As of this moment, the group is still in the process of being set -up, As far as we know, joining is currently open, so try to join and if you have a problem, contact me or RockGem and we'll see if we can figure it out! (this is all fairly new to both of us, so if you have experience administering groups and want to volunteer, let me or RockGem know, we could use the help!)
