I love the look of this type of fractal, and really wanted to do something cool with it... not sure if it came out as good as I would have liked. I added some Dof to try to give it a little something extra. Not sure if that was a great idea either...

Well... I've been having a play around with this parameter... Got some really cool results, but when I render them I get blocks of flat colour over it. Not sure what you call them? Artifacts/noise)??? been trying to get rid of them, with not much success?
it sounds like cut areas... with that you have two choices, one is to find some change in the numbers that will eliminate them, which can be the hard way.
The other way is to use Inside rendering for those parts. In the older versions of MB, you had to render the outside, then render the inside, and then paste them together in a program like Photoshop, but with MB version 1.7.5.6 Jesse added Inside+Outside rendering mode, so you can do both at once, its just slower that way.
Look on the bottom of the formulas window for a drop down box that says Outside render, and if you click the arrow you can choose outside, inside or inside+outside. Try the inside+outside and the flat areas of single color should disappear.
I just love apollonian gaskets...
Might just have to have a play with your parameter and see if i can figure out how to make one
I'll give it a go.

I'll go get the latest version and give it a go.
Thanks again.
Rendering it now, you'll see it soon
