Secrets

another political essay by
Charles E. Kunkle Jr (fraterchaos)

I'd like to ask everyone a question, and I want you to give an honest answer... not to me, but to yourself.

If someone is keeping a secret from you, is that not a very good indication that they are trying to do something unpleasant to you, or trying to accomplish something you would not like?

Think about it... if they are not "up to something" and if that "something" isn't something bad for you, why would they wish to keep it secret from you?

I personally believe it is perfectly safe to say, that anytime somebody is keeping you in the dark, it MUST be for nefarious purposes.

You might be thinking... ok, but what is this all about? Well, I'll tell you.

Yesterday (Monday July 16, 2012) the Democrats in The Senate of the United States tried to pass something called the Disclose Act. They were doing this as a response to the recent decision by the Supreme Court that "Corporations are people" and therefore "can donate any amount of money to any political campaign without reporting the donations". In other words... very very rich people and corporations can basically try to buy political offices.

Now I don't know about you, but I feel such a thing is very very wrong. We don't need billionaires deciding what is right for the rest of us. But evidently, the Republicans in Congress feel that is actually the perfect thing to do... and we are also supposed to believe that it has nothing at all to do with the fact that Conservatives benefit from this ruling 2 to 1 over Progressives.

Yes, that's right, The vaunted Republican party is the major beneficiary of the Supreme Court ruling that allows these rich people to buy elections... so is it any wonder they used a filibuster to block a vote on the Disclose Act?

They don't want you to know who is paying for their campaigns... I wonder why that is? Its the Middle Class and the Poor Working American they are trying to keep in the dark about this, so who is it that's being screwed?

Think about that when you go to vote...

again, just think about it... don't listen to flowery speeches, don't believe spin... THINK for yourself!

I found the basic idea to consider corporations as human being a terrible error :

The worse is that there is a part of truth...corporation tend to become as living being and the first steps are the same of any living being... protect themselves with any possible way ,grow and procreate.

But even if living and more intelligent of their creators are far to be human...are much more powerful and potentially dangerous of any human, are not restrained by moral, and have legions of lawyers hired to avoid to be restrained by law.

and since they could not be controlled in the same way (i can't see how jail , confine in a psychiatric asylum or electrocute a company ) give them even more power seems a proof of masochism.

indeed. I cannot see any way in which that ruling makes sense.

I keep hearing these same arguments from conservative minded people, that we should eliminate government programs and turn them over to private companies... as if no company has ever done anything wrong. Over and over we have these cases where huge corporations have broken all sorts of laws... but we are to believe we should turn over everything from health care to postal service to these same companies!

It is all about money, but there are some things that are more important than money.

ARG!!! This is insane! How they even managed to convince govs that Corps are people is just beyond me! As if! There is just no comparison.

I've always believed that "secrets are lies, bad manners besides" is the rule to live by. This doesn't mean that you have to tell everyone everything but certainly that disclosure is the best option in most cases - ESPECIALLY stuff like this that affects all of us!

Looks like the BC campaigns again pipelines and tankers are having some effect! People are booing at the Enbridge ads in theatres and cheering for the ads for the opposition of them. Even the mainstream news is sitting up and taking notice! If we defeat the current premier (governnor to you) of BC, the new pipelines will be killed! YAY!

Currently the opposition party's (New Democrats - the socialisty ones I belong to) approval ratings are higher than they've ever been! So the election coming up next year has a good chance of being OURS! :D

well, some good news at least...

I'm not sure what to think about our situation... they keep saying all the polls are predicting a very close race between Obama and Romney, although they also say that most people don't trust Romney and don't like him and want him to release more of his tax returns and explain why he needs Swiss and Cayman Islands bank accounts and when did he actually leave Bain.. he keeps saying he reytired in 1999 or something, but he is listed as Owner, President, Sole Stock Holder, CEO and Chairman of the Board up until like 2003 during which time Bain was buying and closing american businesses and shipping the jobs to china and making millions for Romney while putting regular working people out of their jobs...

And all the polls show that Congress, which is mostly run by republicans, has the lowest approval rate ever, only 10% of people approve of the job congress is doing... an yet they try to say the polls all show the republicans are about even with the democrats... so I think maybe we're being lied to again...

Definitely being lied to! Plus anyone with the first name "mitt" can't possibly be trustworthy!

Analysts here are still saying that Obama is the best bet! :D

well, actually, his name isn't even Mitt... I have seen his name in print as W. Mitt Romney... and heard some commentators referring to Willard... I think his really first name is Willard (and after the rat movie, I can understand why he goes by "Mitt" LOL)

I heard another really great one last night...

Romney is now running an ad where his son speaks in Spanish (because Romney has like 0 support from hispanics) saying how Romney loves Mexico... that his father (Mitt's father, the son's grandfather) was born in Mexico... they simply must have forgotten to mention that the reason Mitt's father was born born there was because Mitt's grandfather moved there to escape the "conservative" marriage laws of the USA which only allowed him to have one wife... Mexico's more "liberal" laws let him keep his five wives! But I guess it was simple oversight that they didn't say anything about that part of the story...
