We have just seen, in the United States of America, the first mixed race African-American and Caucasian President re-elected for his second term. I believe this election sends a number of clear messages and I feel it behooves us to understand what these messages are.

First and foremost, what I would call the most important thing the Republican Party should learn from this is that you cannot infringe on the rights of citizens. If you try to take away the rights of women, of immigrants, of people with alternative lifestyles, you will continue to lose. This is the Twenty First century guys... things have changed, and you REALLY need to get with the times.

Second, it is very very evident that the American people no longer believe the old conservative line (or should I say lie?) about tax breaks for the wealthy creating jobs. You need to look no further than recent history, each time we have chosen a Republican and enacted these sorts of tax cuts, we have lost jobs, and when we elect a Progressive and raised taxes on the wealthy and big business, we gain jobs. That's a simple fact of history now, and you need to realize that. But beyond that, simple logic dictates that the idea of tax cuts for these so-called "job creators" do not encourage growth. Giving tax cuts to these people actually encourages them to create less jobs, as they do not have any need to compete, to innovate, to research, to improve at all... they have no need because they are getting free money in the form of these tax cuts. The way you increase hiring is by giving more to the largest sector of the populace, the Middle Class, so they buy more big screen TVs and cars and all the other stuff... the wealthy do NOT buy proportionally more, you may make 1000 times what a regular person makes, you don't buy 1000 times what they buy!

Third, the American people can sometimes be fairly stupid, like any large group... but they do not easily fall for lies, and repeating and repeating the lie does not convince anyone, it simply makes you look bad... let's stop with the lies, and the negative campaigning, and talk straight facts, and be respectful... time for us to grow up, because we have problems that we will not solve by being petty, self-serving, and childish.

Fourth, and in some ways, to me at least, most importantly... YOU CANNOT BUY ELECTIONS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!! Karl Rove, Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, and Donald Trump and all the rest of you, how does it feel to have wasted over a billion dollars trying to get the unelectable candidate elected? How does it feel when the American People see through your crap? We need to overturn the Citizen's United Ruling and get secret dirty money out of politics. But at least, in this one, the people sent a very important message... our votes are NOT for sale!

I do hope we can finally sit down and work together, that the Republican Party can stop obstructing just because they want to win the next election... American People, real people, were HARMED, because you refused to pass any jobs bills that might have helped Obama look good... and you STILL lost! So maybe you need to understand, the American People want the work to get done, and they don't want obstruction for political gain!

Let's do what's right, instead of what is politically expedient.

I completely agree on what You say on U.S.A. situation...Unfortunately here in Italy lies seems to be on both sides on the right as on the left, so are three years I don't vote at elections knowing that nobody elected will really not resolve the problems....except that with words and putting money inside politicians' pockets

well, that also happens here, far too much. But this year it was clear we had one bad guy, and one far far worse guy... so it makes sense to vote for the bad guy, because the other guy would have ruined everything
or at least, that's how I saw it
