Not bad at all...I like the simplicity of it...minimalistic, but still has texture to it.

Nice work! :)

Nice render Charles! I have tried time and time again to install or use JWildfire on this machine to no avail! When I click on the install.bat or what ever it just opens a new dialog showing what is in the zip file or the .jar files. Any suggestions! I love Apophysis and would really like to use this program! Tnx!

hmmm, I didn't have an install bat or anything like that. I just unzipped everything to a folder... then ran start.bat.

One issue you might have had was that some of the older versions would not run on some machines when running with start.bat, and had to be started with the Jwildfire program in one of the sub folders, but Andreas has fixed that.

The newest version also includes a new C+ render engine, that works far better than the Java for people with older, slower machines.

My suggestion is to download the newest version from [link] making sure you get the 0.54 version. Then unzip it into its own folder. Open that folder and run start.bat, it should display a splash screen, with a start button then, if its anything like my machine, sit there for a couple minutes seeming to do nothing. Just let it wait, and eventually the main screen will finally show up with another splash screen and another start button.

Once you get it to run, you can choose one of the random flames that loads at start, or click the random button to get a bunch of new randoms. You can chose any by double clicking it, and it will show in a small editor window along with the triangles for the transforms... you can edit the transforms in much the same way as Apo, actually somewhat more easily as you have a series of buttons for sizing, rotating, moving and free transform along the right side of the editor window.

One you have a flame you like don't use the render flame button... I would suggest first going to the menus at the top, and finding the preferences menu, it will open a dialog box and down about the middle is a setting for the renderer you want to use, probably defaulted to java or tina, click or double click on the name of the current renderer and you'll get a list of available renderes, choose the C+ one.

Also, at the top of the main page, there are settings for render size and quality, set those to whatever you want them.

Now go to Interactive Render tab (second tab under the menus at the top) and a new window opens with a large black screen. If you click on "From EDitor" it will begin rendering the image you had edited on the main page... and its nothing like Apo in that respect, instead of rendering full color from the top down, it basically fades it in for the full area of the render. So at first you might see nothing, but as you watch the image will begin to appear and get more and more "full" the longer you wait. The renderer never actually "finishes" but will crash if left to run as long as it can... just let it go until you are satisfied with the image, then click the save image button and save it...

I hope that helps. I am really just starting with it myself, so there is a lot I don't know, but if you have more questions, feel free to ask, or you can go directly to :iconthargor6: (Andreas, who created it) or also ask :iconfractamonium: as he has been using it a long time now and knows far more than I do... either of them will likely be very happy to give advice, they've both been great at helping me.

Thanks man! This version works on my machine now due to the C+ render engine. I have the newest version of Java but, the old version(s) refused to work.
I followed the instructions to the letter but they just didn't work. Gee! Now I have a new toy to tinker with! Thanks again!!

well, glad you got it working! I know when I first tried it Andreas told me the reason it wasn't running was the launcher and to use the one JWildfire executable in one of the sub folders, and it ran but refused to render anything.
the new version is working great!

and most welcome :)

(oh BTW, you can use Apo parameters, but I read on Andreas' website (or in the help or FAQ) that you can't use plug-ins unless they are translated to Java (I think Java) so just in case you needed to know that... I don't know if anyone has plug-ins translated posted anywhere)

When I un-zipped the older version, I even used the "Use folder names" option in winzip and saw everything except the executable file in the sub-folders! The START.BAT when I clicked on it flashed once and nothing. At least I got it to work and have a new toy!
